The OJRO.dev Manifesto
Software is changing.
The way we build it is changing even faster.
For decades, building software required complex tooling, large teams, and deep technical specialization. Today, AI is transforming development into something far more accessible β something closer to creativity.
But there is a problem.
Most of the tools shaping this new era are controlled by a small number of global technology platforms, heavily concentrated outside of Europe.
OJRO.dev started with a simple question:
What would an AI development platform look like if it was built in Europe, for Europe?
Not as a political statement.
Not as a reaction.
But as an experiment.
An attempt to build a new kind of development platform powered by AI, built on European infrastructure, and guided by transparency rather than black boxes.
OJRO.dev allows people to build software using natural language.
It's development reimagined as a conversation between human creativity and machine intelligence.
But there is another dimension to the platform.
AI computation is not free. It consumes energy, water, and infrastructure. These costs are usually invisible.
OJRO.dev makes them visible.
Every generation shows the estimated environmental footprint β COβ emissions, energy usage, water consumption, and cost. Not to shame developers, but to remind us that digital systems exist in the physical world.
Transparency matters.
OJRO.dev is built with technologies rooted in Europe:
Swedish sovereign cloud. All servers, data and computation stays within the EU.
French large language models powering code generation and architecture planning.
Self-hosted, open-source Git forge. Your code lives on European infrastructure.
Lightweight Go backend from Bulgaria. Runs inside each project container.
Founded in Germany, now owned by Canva (Australia). Used for stock photos β no personal data is sent.
Cookie consent, data export, deletion rights. Built in from day one.
Open-source technologies wherever possible. No data leaves the EU.
Your code belongs to you.
Every project you create on OJRO.dev can be exported to its own Git repository, hosted on our self-hosted Forgejo instance β an open-source, EU-sovereign alternative to GitHub.
Clone it, modify it, deploy it anywhere. No lock-in. No US cloud dependency for your source code. Just an open Git community built on European infrastructure.
git clone https://ojro.dev/git/your-name/your-project.gitAvoiding global dependencies entirely is difficult. The modern internet is deeply interconnected. But the ambition is clear:
Reduce dependence.
Strengthen European infrastructure.
Build alternatives.
The platform is still early.
This is an MVP.
Some code is generated by AI and not yet security audited. Features will evolve. Integrations will change. Mistakes will happen.
But the direction is clear.
OJRO.dev is not just about building software faster.
It is about exploring what an independent, transparent and responsible AI development ecosystem could look like in Europe.
The journey has just begun.
